RULES & REGULATIONS

Library general rules

  • Always carry your ID card when you visit the library.
  • Designated quiet zones must be observed for silent study.
  • Please use electronic devices with consideration for others. Loud or disruptive use of electronic devices is not permitted.
  • Digital resources and databases are granted only for educational and research purposes.
  • Users should not replace all books/journals taken from the rack after referring / reading. Such books should be left on the table itself.
  • Tearing off, marking with pencil or pen, highlighting, or dog-earing of books/journals/ reports is strictly prohibited.
  • Suggestions for procuring new books for the library should be forwarded through the Faculty in charge of each school to the Librarian.
  • Personal belongings are not allowed inside the library; all such items should be kept on the library property counter. Do not keep valuable items on the property counter. The library staff will not be responsible for losing users' personal belongings.
  • Don’t carry food and beverages inside the library premise.
  • All books must be returned for physical stock verification, irrespective of the date of issue and category of users. Dates for physical verification will be announced 2 weeks in advance.

Book Borrowing Rules

  • Borrowing privileges are granted to registered users only. Proper identification is required for borrowing books from the library
  • Borrowed materials must be returned on or before the due date. Failing to return the book within the due date will entail a fine of Rs. 5 per day. Please note that the fine amount will be calculated from the default date.
  • The borrower is responsible for checking the book's condition at the time of borrowing, if a book is damaged, report it to the librarian to avoid fines.
  • Books lost or damaged shall have to be replaced with the latest edition or triple the book price with a processing fee of Rupees 100/- will be charged to the borrower per the library rules.
  • All overdue fines (if any) should be settled before taking the ‘NO DUES’ certificate from the library, failing which the student will not be allowed to write the exam/s, or exam/s results will be withheld.
  • Books issued to users can be recalled by the Librarian at any time without prior notice.
  • Reference books, rare books, damaged books, books kept in the Reserve Section, and bound volumes of journals are not issued to users.
  • A book can be renewed twice only on the presentation at the issue counter and only in case there is no demand for that particular book from other users.
